The Slow Creep Into Night

Hello, Readers! Clevenger here!

Imagine if you will, a sunset. As the sun drops below the horizon, your eyes behold the wonder of how night falls across the land. The colors shift. Crickets, fireflies, and other nocturnal creatures begin to take notice. And slowly, oh so slowly, the shadows begin to form and creep, one by one, into the corners of your vision, taking hold of the landscape until they are everywhere.

Well, that’s how these last two weeks have felt, watching “War of NIght” make its way into the marketplace of the internets. Amazon grabbed it quickly, Barnes and Noble shortly thereafter, and then it just kept happening. Where ever books are sold, “War of Night” began to be seen.

It wasn’t a torrent. It wasn’t a big bang. No, instead it was a slow creeping. Sites would get the title, but no picture. Hours later, the cover would be there. A few more hours, and we’re at the top of the search results. Bit by bit, “War of Night” was claiming her foothold.

I cannot express how it felt. Little joys, spread out over the last two weeks as we keep finding our baby where we wanted to see her. Books-a-Million, Anderson Books (my local), Amazon, B&N, Snail on the Wall, and so much more. Seeing “War of Night” on presale, listed right next to our idols is the best!

Well, until…

I put “War of Night” into a popular search engine and a little book website called “Booktopia” popped up. I thought, “Interesting… I don’t know them.” So I clicked.

There sat our Hardcover (and now the paperback) but the prices… oh, they weren’t what I expected! Why were they so high? Well, you see… I missed an important detail about Booktopia. Booktopia you see, is Australia’s Local Bookstore! Wait, what?!

That’s right, “War of Night” is on pre-sale in Australia. (For parents, that means that Bandit and Chili Heeler can read it!) I was floored. Then I started looking for more. I found sites in Japan, UK, and other world wide shops that have access to OUR book! We are worldwide.

And that’s when it hit me. We did it.

“War of Night” has a LCCN (Library of Congress Control Number), we are available in fine retailers across the globe, our book is legitimate. And we did it. We built our own little publisher, we wrote our story, we put the details together, and we did it. No one gave us anything, we fought, we worked, and we did it.

I want to thank ALL of our supporters. Our beta readers, our cover artist, our friends, our family, and everyone else who believed in our story. With them, we trudged over all the obstacles and made our dream a reality. And… we’re not done yet.

“Old Bones, Old Ways” is in revisions. Beta read will come soon. “Welcome to Avernus” is getting a revision treatment as well. Hopefully a second beta will come soon. Other solo projects like “QueensFall” (working title) and “Ghosting Myself” will be manuscript complete by end of this year. Sainan Books has officially formed and is going to explode with content!

You can shop for “War of Night” here: https://a.co/d/gGeMMRO or you can find it at any retailer you prefer. (Pro-tip: Search for “War of Night Manticore’s Shadow” for best results) We are so excited about this process, and hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Until next time,

Be Kind.
