A Boost of Confidence!

Hello, Readers!

Unfortunately, I have a lot of things going on this week, and the amount of time that I have to write this week’s blog is limited. But, I’m still here to say hi. And I’m going to deviate from the “plan” and talk a bit about the overall project of Stories of Sainan. Getting “Manticore’s Shadow” to Beta was AWESOME. And we have a LOT to plan for the next steps with that book…. but I’ll sit back and let Graham tell you about that.

Riding the high of last week’s milestone, I’m very excited to tell you that a boost of confidence was what Graham and I needed to overcome some serious sluggish writer’s block. For months, Graham and I have been staring at “Revelations of Shadow” (Book 3) and trying to move forward. While not giving ourselves any credit for being nearly 30k words deep, it had sat shelved for a quite a while.

Apparently, going back and editing “Manticore’s Shadow” was a spark igniting a small burst of creativity. Graham and I had multiple calls, arcing out the main plot arc, solidifying “what happened” away from “what we are telling the characters happened” (evil grin… there IS a difference). Both of us had discovered over the past few months, we had collected snips of scenes, 600 words here, 900 words there, but knew that the scenes weren’t “complete.”

When we compiled those snips into the Draft, we jumped about 7000 words. I got inspired by some of Graham’s scenes and wrote another 2000 words myself.

So one week after “Manticore” hits Beta, we are now 10K further with “Revelations.” Our book projects are all coming together, just slowly.

So very excited.

Well, sorry it’s short. And sorry that it’s a bit chaotic. But I have some personal things that need attention, and then it’s back to writing for me!

Be Kind,

-Clevenger
